World Wood Day invitation for Competitors

Dear Delegates,

Please see the below information posted on behalf of former WorldSkills Australia Joinery Expert, Steve Bulman.

International travel experience offered to WorldSkills timber trades through International Wood Culture Society – Expressions of Interest sought.

WorldSkills Australia’s Steve Bulman has taken on a role with IWCS to increase the participation of WorldSkillers from around the globe celebrating World Wood Day in Long Beach California on March 21 – 26 2017.

The International Young Adult Furniture Making Invitational, IYAFMI, has previously celebrated WWD in Tanzania, China, Turkey and Nepal. WorldSkills National and International medallists have played a part in 3 of the past 4 Invitationals.

IWCS offers young timber tradespeople who are aged under 26 YO in 2017, return international airfares, transfers, hotel accommodation, all meals and an inspirational world experience of concerts, film, visits and excursions. This opportunity would suit skilled high achievers or those who have narrowly missed selection for National teams due to age or other circumstances.

The event is NOT a competition, it is an invitational demonstration of skills, with the theme this year of “Roots”.
Invitees must design and build their own project, which may include tables, benches or chairs.
A portion of the event time schedule will see the invitees collaborating with new found international friends in designing and manufacturing a piece of furniture.

Invitees must bring their own equipment as part of their airline luggage allowance, no power tools are to be brought.
To give your young skilled adults an opportunity to participate, please email Steve Bulman ( your expression of interest, more details will be forwarded to you shortly after this.

Kind regards
